Scientific Proofs  | On Solid Ground: Bridge Engineering in Louisville
February 25, 2012, 6:00 p.m.

The Louisville Science Center’s series of after-hours informal dialogues around timely science topics is back for 2012. One of the largest hot-button issues in our area is often discussed with financial and political filters, but let’s take some time to explore our bridges from an engineering perspective. What’s really wrong with the Sherman Minton Bridge, and what are the most structurally sound and efficient designs for high-traffic river bridges? How can cutting-edge technology be applied to bridge planning and design?  What does science suggest as far as the location and number of future Ohio River bridges?  Presenters scheduled to appear include representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, UK Transportation, and regional private engineering firms.

Join us as we discuss our bridges in a neutral and apolitical environment. This event is in conjunction with National Engineers Week 2012, presented by Lexmark. Audience participation is invited and encouraged and a cash bar will be available.  The event is free and open the public.   Reservations are not required but may be made by calling (502) 560-7129 or emailing jenna.spear@louisvilleky.gov.
